Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Program
The FSS Program is a support program for Section 8 participants. The FSS Program assists participants in identifying and achieving educational and career goals. The FSS Program's goal is to help families become independent and free of the need for government assistance.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
FSS Program families must live in the Virgin Islands and participate in the Virgin Islands Housing Authority's assisted housing programs.
WHAT CAN FSS DO FOR ME?
The FSS program helps families become financially independent. The FSS Program can link you to support services such as:
· Job training, Counseling, Life skills, Financial planning, and Case management.
The FSS Program rewards you with a savings account. VIHA opens an escrow account for each FSS family when they have an increase in rent because of an increase in earned income. VIHA saves your increased rent for you.
DO I LOSE MY HOUSING ASSISTANCE IF I AM IN THE FSS PROGRAM AND MAKING MORE MONEY?
No. Families participating in the FSS Program do not lose their housing assistance. FSS families will have housing stability while they work on their self-sufficiency plan.
HOW DO I APPLY?
